Over the years, a number of famous American golf courses have been developed by some of the top course designers in the industry. In other cases, a beautiful golf course might be found in the middle of a desert, so there is really no end to the locations where a great course can be built.

“The Country Club and Pine Valley…”

One of the top courses in the country is called the Country Club and it is located in Brookline, Massachusetts. Pine Valley in Clementon, New Jersey is another very old American golf course that still provides some very challenging holes for players. This course even has the highest slope rating in the entire country, so it is not a course that you will want to play without a cart.

“Most Famous…”

Perhaps the most famous of the famous American golf courses is Augusta, as this is where the Master’s tournament is played every year. Unfortunately, this course is for members only and gaining membership to Augusta is almost impossible.

“Winged Foot Golf Course…”

Winged Foot Golf Course is another private golf course that many people want to play. This club is as much about the other activities as it is about the golf course, but the course remains a thing of pride of every member of this club.

“PGA Style…”

A course that has held many PGA tournaments over the years is called Merion Golf Course, which is a park style course that is as beautiful as it is challenging. Pinehurst is another golf course that is well known by professional golfers because of its challenging makeup, although this course is challenging because it is located in the middle of a forest. This course is also very expensive to play, but it is a public course, so anyone can play a round in the same place that the pros play.

“West Coast…”

As far as west coast golf courses go, Pebble Beach is probably the most famous. This course is located in Pebble Beach, California and is a great spot to spend a vacation. There is also a full resort at this course, so players can relax in luxury on their golf vacation.
Another great west coast golf course is the Olympic Club Lake Course in San Francisco.
