Being a left handed golfer can be somewhat difficult for a number of reasons. Luckily, the successes of left handed golfers like Phil Mickelson and Mike Weir have changed the perception of left handed golfers and made left handed golf equipment more readily available all over the world. These two, and other players, have done a lot of good for the left handed golfing community and they should be recognized because of this.

A mistake that many naturally left handed golfers make is they attempt to switch over to playing a right handed style. Those left handed players who attempt to use right handed clubs immediately leave themselves at a disadvantage because they will not have the same feel for the clubs that they would if they were using left handed golf equipment.

This can make the short game very difficult, even if they are able to master the driving game. If a golfer does not have the right touch, he or she will struggle quite a bit, so finding left handed clubs should be the first step for any left handed golfer, no matter how inexpensive the right handed version can be found for.
The newer models of putters have also made it more difficult to be a left handed player, as these new putters are no longer for both types of players. Golf gloves are another piece of equipment that a left handed player will have to account for, as most right handed golfers use a glove on only their top hand.

This means that there are many left gloves around, but very few right gloves, which is what a left handed player would need. Left handed golf equipment is no longer as rare as it once was, so left handed golfers can now enjoy many of the same luxuries as other golfers.

With that being said, left handed golf equipment is still not as easy to find as right handed equipment, so you might run into problems at various points of your golfing career. Golf is a wonderful game to play and naturally left handed golfers should be glad that it is now easier to enjoy a game of golf using properly selected left handed golf equipment than it ever has been before.
